Simpler Media Group is seeking a sophisticated, analytical and entrepreneurial Director of Corporate Marketing & Audience Development with 10+ years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will be strong at building strategic frameworks, testing competing channels/vendors and optimizing marketing campaign performance.
This is a full time, remote position. You must work during U.S. business hours.
SMG, established in 2009, publishes the popular CMSWire and Reworked digital magazines, produces in-depth market research, and operates the DX Summit and Digital Workplace Experience conferences.
Your mission will be to aggressively grow our community membership, utilizing our industry conference series, original research and editorial content as the primary attractors.
Success in this role requires a history of work with growing membership, audiences and/or contact databases. Sophistication in the design and use of enterprise systems, enterprise frameworks and comfort with a range of campaign types and channels is important.
What You’ll Do
This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial role driving concrete outcomes. You will leverage both owned and paid media to achieve your goals. And you will have defined budgets and CPA targets associated with each LOB you contribute to. Some agency or services experience is preferred. A combination of corporate and agency or consulting experience would be ideal.
Strong marketing creative and marketing writing skills as applied to emails, web, and ad copy is essential. You will be managing and mentoring the production of a broad variety of creative assets.
- Corporate Marketing
Work together with the CEO and the VP of Marketing to drive corporate marketing efforts to build our community, online readership and client-base through traditional and emerging channels. Execute brand development programs and awareness campaigns that drive growth. Create accurate metrics tracking models and controls to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Campaign Marketing
Own the orchestration of complex B2B digital campaigns and specific output targets across several digital marketing platforms and a number of paid media channels (i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter, GDN, etc.). Integrate and align use of the systems to maintain comprehensive control and achieve campaign success objectives.
Your significant martech chops will help us evolve our operations and raise the bar of operational excellence across our current martech stack built on Marketo, Sumo, DiscoverOrg, Workato, Google Ads & Analytics, LinkedIn, Facebook, ON24, and Swoogo.
- Events Marketing
Own the achievement of our conference marketing registration goals. This includes market positioning, focus groups / advisory councils, messaging frameworks, personas, nurture frameworks, pricing/discounting, marketing calendar, marketing creative, campaign / asset performance measurement, dashboarding and creative development. In collaboration with our VP of Events you will additionally own the event website identity, branding, design and digital health.
- Team Leadership
Lead a small project team of staff members and outside vendors / partners. Hiring, process creation and improvement, performance management, career management, mentoring.
You must be able to manage and functionally integrate multiple digital marketing platforms to engage and nurture our community prospects towards subscription, registration or membership outcomes. Experience with conceptual frameworks such as customer journeys, nurture funnels, messaging frameworks and customer lifetime value are essential to the role.
In addition, you must meet these criteria:
- University Degree, Masters/MBA Preferred
- Professional / White Collar Work Experience (7+ years)
- Large Company (2,000+ Employees) Work Experience (5+ yrs)
- Audience/Community/Database Development Experience (5+ yrs)
- Strong Marketing Content and Copywriting Skills (5+ years)
- B2B Events Marketing Experience (3+ years)
- Experience Operating Enterprise-Grade MarTech Systems such as Marketo, Hubspot, Eloqua, etc. (3+ yrs)
- Experience Creating/Operating Enterprise-Grade Frameworks (Campaigns, Messaging, Customer Journeys, Nurture Funnels, Personas, etc.)
A star candidate will have:
- Marketo Experience (3+ years)
- Agency, Advertising, or Consulting Client-Servicing Experience (3+ years)
- Experience With B2B Media Monetization
- Exceptional Communication and Organizational Skills
- Entrepreneurial or Small Business Leadership Experience
